Okay, so maybe I am the 188,90000th person who did a review on The Fault in Our Stars (TFIOS) movie. But zero care will be given from me. Coz the movie is super good it deserves even billions of reviews.
First, the movie plot.
As some of us might already know, the movie is an adaptation of John Green‘s novel with the same title. The novel itself is already a sell out internationally. Highlighting on young-adult romance with touches of reality, pain and tear--the movie plot sounds boring on one glance, but trust me, you will definitely get sucked on the storyline as the movie revolves. It reminds you of the reality- of being optimistic and also a realist--BECAUSE WE CAN NEVER REALLY RUN FROM THE REALITY OF LIFE. People fall in love. People die. People struggle. People give up. And the life cycle will goes on and on. You just gotta deal and face those with your bravest heart.
In addition to that, TFIOS also managed to put literature touches in it as there are many metaphoric moments--for example Gus love to put a cigarette in his mouth but never really lit the cigarette as he believes that even though he has a ‘killing-thing‘ in his mouth he still has the power to make sure that thing wont kill him.
Second, the movie or the novel?
Okay this is really up to your liking. Some people prefer to read the novel first and then watch the movie but some prefer to do the reverse vice. No matter what the sequence is-the novel or the movie first, your judgment will not be ruined towards the movie.
As for my experience, I did read the novel first before watching the movie. And without any shame, I am telling you now that I have cried twice (heck maybe even more). The first one was right after I finished reading the book and the second time was obviously after I had watched the movie. Of course there are some plots of the novel where I imagined more intimate, more ‘life‘ to them but then, the movie nevertheless succeed in conveying the novel‘s plot without losing its original touch.
Third, the actors. (and also the actresses. Duh. I‘m not gonna be bias. Ansel Elgort is so cute, still:P)
Right from the main characters Augustus Waters (Ansel Elgort) and Hazel Grace (Shailene Woodley) to every other character-- they played their roles so well. I can feel their emotion. I can sense their feelings. Either they played their characters so well or I‘m just a shaman who can feel and sense everything , lol.

Augustus Waters,or Gus and Hazel characters for instance are played so well by both Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley. I can really feel their love in the movie.A naive and deep love towards each other. A love connection that I can only imagine in my mind while I was reading the novel previously. A relationship in which has ties them really close to the point you just want to go inside the movie and be like,DON‘T EVER SEPARATE THEM.JUST LET THEM BE TOGETHER FOREVER AND EVER, PLEASE?
Fourth, the soundtracks.
Come on. I‘m a sucker for good songs. Good songs + good storyline = GREAT MOVIE. I haven‘t managed to listen to all of its soundtracks but some of them are already been on my spotify playlist. And to be honest, I‘ve been listening to them non-stop. (I‘M JUST OBSESSED LIKE THAT, sorry).
One of the soundtracks is Let Me In by Grouplove. TBH, I‘ve listened to the song couple times before the movie and I loved it. But now I even love it more. Good job, Grouplove. And also kudos to people who worked behind the music selection for TFIOS.
Last but not least, should you watch it?
Yes. Hell to the yeah.Don‘t forget to bring tissues to the cinema. I‘m not saying you gonna cry, but...just bring those tissues okay?
